Quality Time With The Kids

There are plenty of ways to increase the amount of quality time you spend with your children:
Kitchen Fun: A Cook Book For Children Time spent in the Kitchen, children actually learn a lot by watching and helping you. So set your kids up with small jobs like peeling vegetable (if old enough) to passing your things. At the same time you can be chatting about their day. Before you know it, your meal is ready and you’ve enjoyed some bonding time together. At the table, take it in turns going round the table talking about your day and what you did. Even if its only one parent its still nice to sit down together for a meal.

Bath time, is the perfect time to catch up, as children need supervision in the bath. It’s a good time to connect, discuss homework if they have any, and have a chat together. My Bubbly Bath Time (Baby Einstein)

In the car, is a great place to get to know your children, we spend so much time driving places. So don’t resent this time, enjoy it getting to know your kids. Not having direct eye contact, sometimes helps, in teenagers especially to have more intimate conversations. You can just comment on their moods (good, bad or quiet), just to start a conversation. Also listening to music while you drive can give you an insight into what they’re into and help with conversations along the way.
Doing any odd jobs together around the house, like the washing, come and chat to me while I’m hanging it out or folding it up and help me while we talk, sharing time together is important no matter what it is. Doing the gardening is a great way to spend time together outside, my daughter has been helping me in the garden weeding (weeds and plants all came out at times but it was all fun) since she could walk, while we talked and now she loves making me smell the flowers and talking about her garden with me.
